The Boca Chica Site, was 1 of 7 places considered for Space X's new launch site. Located near Brownsville, TX. with approximately 100 plus acres acquired between 2012-2014. Groundbreaking on the new launch facility occured in September 2014. The first tracking antenna was installed in August 2016, and the first propellant tank arrived in July 2018. Later in 2018 construction at the launch site increased considerably. By March of 2019 the first test vehicle was being built onsite. Wind brakes and many tents of various sizes have been erected on the shipyard site, and a larger landing pad was poured on the launch area in the later part of 2019.
